Crocheted cane cover with flowers and leaves.

After needing a cane for a few months prior to hip replacement, I have to say that I got sick of looking at the same old cane day after day. My cane was an accessory, at least as much as my purse or jewelry, and I decided I needed to treat it as such. My initial cane cover was a hastily crocheted tube of recycled sari silk that I actually finalized directly onto the cane. It came to me that wouldn’t it be nice to have a cane cover that could be easily changed as the mood suited me. To this end I began plundering my vast stores of yarn and costume fabrics.

The default length of this cane cover is 28" (71cm) but the very nature of the crocheting means it easily stretches to 34"+ (86 1/2cm).

I provide small velcro strips to attach to the top and bottom of the straight part of the cane and the inner lip of the top and bottom of the cozy contain matching velcro. This particular cane cover will slide over a rubber foot of up to 5 1/2" circumference. For reference, my standard metal cane has a 5" (about 1 1/2" diameter) circumference rubber foot. The body of the cane cover is 100% wool. The free form flower buds, vines and leaves are acrylic yarn. This is definitely my quirkier cane cover.

The last photo is an example of a cane cover in action as an example and is not part of this sale (unless this sale also shows that cane cover).

All items are made in a smoke free home. We don't have cats or other pets (as we don't count our daughter's imaginary friends). We do have one short hair dog (chihuahua/terrier mix). She doesn't help with the crafting, but her 'dogginess' is in the air.
