Offered for your consideration is a wonderful Vintage, (1930's ?), Hand Carved German WHISTLER Automation Drunkard. This whistling novelty has a complex clockwork mechanism that produces a lively whistling tune and animates the gentleman’s head moving it from side to side through the duration of the song. As the animation process is in motion the lamp in the post will also light by means of batteries concealed in a compartment under the base. These whistlers are quite a hoot to watch and will amuse you and your guests for years to come; most folks have never seen one of these vintage creations. This item measures approx. 19” high to the top of the lamp and is in very good cosmetic condition with a wonderful darkened patina. The carving is intact and the paint has held up remarkably well for an item fifty plus years old. A "UKA" makers stamp is found on the back base as well as a "Germany" stamp on the movement.
I can not recall the tune this gentleman is whistling as I had a little drink about an hour ago and it went right to my head!! , (one of the lines in the song).

This whistling novelty is not working correctly at present ; the movement is complete and functions, however it will need some adjustment to play correctly. The lamp will need a replacement bulb, and the battery storage area will need cleaning and a thin wooden cover cut out to keep the batteries in place. I would assume anyone who does clock repair could most likely get this item up and running with minor expense to the new owner.
