Gob bless you completed cross stitch, framed in secondhand frame

---The Story---

This cross stitch is meant to be a relatively subtle joke, and one that works for AD fans and non-fans alike: a pun on the usual "God bless you" that traditional cross stitching often focuses on with the misspelling that should immediately bring the opening strains of "Final Countdown" to mind for some.

(Imagine what the world would be like if Gob were in charge...and THAT'S WHY you always check your spelling!)

For those unfamiliar with reasons to check their spelling, this cross stitch also reads as a jokey take on mistakes. The balance of the mundane (chicken and banana motif) and imperfections (the huge mistake of the spelling error) with the automatic authority of the classic style font makes this stitch both classy and really funny to the careful reader. My friends, knowing my usual decorating style to be "cluttered chic," have done double takes at this stitch, invariably laughing once they catch the error -- so don't be afraid to display this as a counterpoint to a normally casual decor.

Somehow, that just makes it even funnier.

---The Deets---

This 5x7 stitch features the text "Gob Bless You" in an ornate, almost Gregorian-style font meant to recall and parody (but not make fun of) sacred texts and hymnals and the like, with the smaller cursive "I've made a huge mistake" almost hidden among a chicken and banana motif at the bottom. The example pictured is stitched in black thread on ivory aida cloth; the example in the second picture is "black w/yellow" bananas -- if you would like this option, select "black w/yellow" in the drop-down list or note it in the purchase order notes.

*CUSTOMIZE: Feel free to request whatever thread colors you prefer in the purchase order notes!

*FRAME: If you live in the U.S. or Canada, you're welcome to request to receive your completed cross stitch either framed in a tastefully pre-distressed Goodwill frame, or mounted on self-stick mounting board (ready for you to frame), or just on the cloth itself. The frame is free to you and costs only the shipping to send it.

If you're outside the U.S. or Canada, your stitch will be sent mounted and ready for you to frame, as the cost of shipping would become prohibitive.

*SHIP: This stitch will be wrapped carefully in newspaper and sent on its way via USPS first class with delivery confirmation or international first class within about two weeks of your order, unless specified otherwise by convo or in my shop policies, shop banner or announcements (below the shop banner) -- and almost always sooner. Let me know if you're on a deadline, and I'll see what I can do!

*GIFT WRAP: Let me know if you're giving "Gob bless you" as a gift, and I'll wrap it up in plain paper and include a notecard for you to write in. Or let me know if it's going straight to the recipient (be sure to include the correct address in your order!) and what message you'd like to include and I'll write it in on your behalf before popping it in the mail.

---The Legal Stuff---

My designs are copyright me, so please don't copy 'em -- or don't blame me if a one-armed man shows up to teach you why you should never copy another stitcher's patterns without permission. If you're interested in this pattern, it's already for sale in the shop along with two versions of "Gob Bless This House" and the "huge mistake" all by itself.

*This listing and the pictured cross stitch are in some ways inspired by television, but not in any way affiliated with any TV show -- nor should it be construed as such.

Frequently asked questions about aliciawatkins

I love to do custom work during the non-holiday months! I try to work on one custom project at a time so that I can give each project my full customizing attention; as a result, a significant lead time on deadlines for receiving your custom order is very much appreciated.

If possible, try to contact me at least a month in advance of a deadline for receiving a 5x7 custom cross stitch. (That said, if you're in a pinch and you know I'm the stitcher for the job, convo me anyway! If I happen to be in between custom orders, I can often get things out in a much shorter time, and like I said, I love working with customers on personalized stitchery.)
Most of my small finished cross stitches have an option for gift wrapping.

If you don't see a drop-down list as you purchase a small hooped or framed cross stitch (smaller than 4x6), but you would like your item to be wrapped in plain paper (with a small notecard for your message included), request gift wrap as you check out in the "notes to seller"!

If you're having your gift sent directly to the recipient, please double-check the address it's going to before you finish checking out, and let me know what you'd like me to write in the notecard to your recipient! :)
Mini kits are available for wholesale ordering at any time; contact me for details on which kits I have available with shelf-ready labeling, and for pricing details!

I also offer a selection of finished cross stitch available for wholesale or certain consignment situations, for stores that feel my work would be a good fit. Contact me if you're interested in carrying my work in your store, and we'll talk about what I've done in the past and what you're looking for! :)
I believe in using secondhand frames because it's eco-friendly, supports my local thrift shops, and allows me to frame your items, if you'd like that, at very low cost.

Because they are unique and unapproved by you, I don't pass on the cost of the secondhand frames to you, except for the cost of shipping (usually about a $2 difference).

When you order an item from me, rest assured that you are only paying for the stitchwork, and you may treat the frame as a "suggestion" -- if you don't like it, give the frame away! Your 4x6 or larger cross stitch will come with a mounting board that will allow you to easily pop it out of the "suggested" frame I've sent it in and into any same-sized frame of your choice.
I can't send you a photo of your options for 4x6 or larger frames; I have too many frames and a too quickly rotating stock for that. However, you're welcome to let me know your preferences in color and material (i.e. wood, metal, plastic) and I'll do what I can to accommodate your wishes.

If you receive your stitchwork and you HATE the frame I chose from my cache of secondhand frames, never fear! The stitching for a 4x6 or larger frame will be mounted on a board that you can simply pop out of the secondhand frame you received, and pop INto a frame you choose from a local store, another Etsy seller, or anywhere you find perfect frames.

Because the secondhand frames I send are free, I cannot offer replacements or frame-related refunds.
Google and Youtube are your BFFs in learning to cross stitch, but if you've purchased a kit or pattern from my shop, I can also offer you a Basic Cross Stitch instruction booklet via email. Just let me know you'd like one, and I'll send it along! :)
