This one-of-a-kind modern 100% silk habotai scarf in gold and rust circle print is hand dyed using a Japanese block-resist method for dyeing fabric. The organic patterning which results, absolutely makes this scarf one-of-a-kind. And since dye reacts on a molecular level with the silk, this scarf is soft and luxurious to the touch.

Perfect for daytime wear or for an evening out, this fashion forward scarf will show off your artisan good taste every time you wear it.

Great size: 10.5” x 58”

So easy to care for - NO harmful dry cleaning solvents needed, just hand wash in cool water, lay on towels to dry, and lightly iron.

How I made this one-of-a-kind scarf:
I use a Japanese form of resist dyeing that is very labor intensive. I start by designing the pattern and colors I'll use for the scarf. The fabric is manipulated – blocked, folded, wrapped, or clamped for that specific pattern. When placed in the dye bath, the dye resists penetrating the blocked out areas, hence the term “resist”.

Each of my colors is custom mixed – achieved by blending dry primary pigments, and each scarf layers a minimum of two to three dye baths to arrive at the final colors. The effect is impossible for me to duplicate, as I can’t seem to mix the exact color twice (still working on my color mixing science). So like an addition of prints, once a specific dye bath is mixed, only a few scarves will get that specific color and then it is down the drain. This hand dyeing process truly makes each one of my scarves unique.

I only use earth-friendly cold water dyes and no harmful chemicals or solvents are used in the making or washing of the fabric.
