Patent date on light switch is for 1956.

This rare hanging swag lamp features a gorgeous modernist spun aluminum cone shade, chains, and lucite planter bowl below. The lamp is currently working.

About 41" high in it's current configuration, which is attained by shortening or lengthening the chains. The aluminum light shade cone is about 7" high and 9" across, and the lucite planter bowl is about 15" across and 7-1/4" high. The shade is enameled white inside, with some enamel loss around the holes that hold the four "S" hooks.

At the estate, it was set up with three chromed chains and the fourth chain was the swag chain with the electrical cord, which I guess kept it more unnoticeable if the cord ran down instead of swagging up.

Wide chrome or polished aluminum bands descend from the scalloped indentions, run underneath the lucite bowl and re-attach on the other side.

NO wood chips, I threw them away after the pics were taken.

Has been used but is displayable. Some scratches or scrapes on the aluminum and lucite. No dents, no dings, no cracks, no chips, no yellowing. Some scrapes on the lucite rim and sides, would respond to buffing. Need a good cleaning.

The light switch is on the cord, and is the old thumb type. The light bulb socket is ceramic.

The scalloped bowl is a designer dream, bound with thick aluminum bands and with the rounded bottom.

This piece is like Industrial meets Hollywood Regency! Like an atomic grow light. A weird, unusual and lovely decor item to display and grow plants, flowers, herbs ... or whatever ... in period style.
