This lovely choker and earring set is signed Trifari. Gustavo Trifari was born in Naples, Italy in 1883 and trained as a goldsmith under his grandfather, Luigi. In 1904 he emigrated to New York and began making costume jewelry with an uncle. Around1910, he and his uncle founded Trifari and Trifari. In 1912, Gustavo branched out on his own and began to make high-quality pieces under the name Trifari. Trifari made a wide range of jewelry and was a competitor of Coro.

This necklace and earring set showcases pretty vintage glass and lucite beads in shades of red. There are oval molded glass beads, round faceted glass beads, and round flattened twisted glass beads, all clear rich red with an aurora borealis flash. These glass beads are interspersed with satiny lucite faux pearls that are a slightly burgundy shade of red. The necklace is 13 inches long, including the hook, and it has a 2 1/2 inch extender.

I am new to Etsy, but I have sold my handmade jewelry, vintage beads, and vintage jewelry on eBay for over ten years. On eBay I have over 6000 feedbacks, 100% of which are positive. If you read my Etsy profile, you will find that I have spent a significant part of my life searching the world for the very finest vintage beads and vintage jewelry. My specialty is beaded costume jewelry, which is a very difficult genre to collect. It’s hard to find jewelry in which every bead in the set is in good condition. In addition, one has to know the background of every type of bead imaginable. As an MIT professor who studies the brain, I know how to move into a new field and learn everything that I can about it, and that is what I have done in the field of vintage beads and jewelry. When I am not dreaming up experiments, I’m researching the background of the many treasures that I have collected. My collection of treasures allows me to offer three categories of items: my artisan jewelry that incorporates vintage crystal, glass, and Lucite beads; vintage necklaces, jewelry sets, and brooches; and vintage beads and findings (sold under “rnevebeads” on Etsy)
