This pot is shaped like a shell, or a seed-pod, quite flat and slender and thicker at the base.

It is is a beautiful soft, duck-egg, slightly turquoise blue with some subtle greyish brown irregular patterning. This is a one-of-a kind hand-built item made from burnished small clay/porcelain. There is a small hole at the top, suitable for one grass or seedhead, or this works beautifully as an incense holder (as shown). This is a beautiful simple shape and very tactile.

This pot was hand-built in white stoneware clay mixed with porcelain. After being coloured, the pot was hand-burnished with a pebble - this makes the clay very strong. After firing to 925', the pot was smoke-fired and then beeswaxed. This gives the pot a beautiful, satin-like sheen.

The pot measures just over 5 inches / 13cm tall, the diameter at the widest point is 4.5 inches / 11cm.
Karen Masserick made this bowl and donated it to made4aid.
