For the music lover – 1 guitar mosaic tile. This is a large tile and is approx. 4.25 inches in length and just under 2 inches at the widest. Approx. 1/4" thick.

All of my pottery tiles are made by hand and kiln fired at least twice. The earthenware clay is rolled out into a slab, then the shaped tiles are cut out and pressed for several days while they dry. Once the tile is dry and cleaned up, it is either decorated with an underglaze or left plain and fired in the kiln for the first bisque fire. This process takes 2-3 days for the kiln to fire and then cool off to room temperature. After this bisque firing additional top glaze is added to the decorated tiles and the plain tiles are glazed/decorated. After the glazes have dried the tiles are loaded back into the kiln for the glaze firing, which again is a 2-3 day process of firing the kiln and cooling back down to room temperature. After all of this you end up with a finished tile. As each one made by hand there will always be slight differences in each piece.

All of the tiles are coated with lead free, food safe glazes and the bottoms are unglazed, otherwise they would stick to the kiln shelf. All of my tiles are from a smoke free home.
