One of a kind by SlapHappy Drums.

This drum is the largest of the djun djun family (pronounced doon doon) and would be called dunbumba.

It is made from hundreds of pieces of re-purposed wood including oak, mahogany and walnut. We roll and weld the rings and the rope is a diamond braid with a nylon core for durability and very little stretch. There is also a port hole to allow for airflow within the shell of the drum.

The two heads on either end of the drum are cow skin. We received them from a local, private butcher. These cows were raised in Oregon and fed local families. We had to dry them, scrape them, clean them, shave them.....some of the process was rather nasty so I won't go into too much detail. The result is two very thick cow skins that will last for years to come when taken care of properly. SlapHappy Drums says..."thank you cows."

The drum measures about 23" tall and the playing surfaces of the heads are 20" across. We left a circle of hair in the middle of each head to allow for a variety of tones. If you strike the middle it is somewhat muted. Strike the shaved part and the tones ring longer. Either way this drum delivers the bass!
