Awesome piece of Native American tribal art. This is a large necklace in a glass display case with a white cotton background. Comes with a description written on a typewriter.
The card says:
Mescalero Apache. Over 350 blue beads w/ reddish tinge. 8 bear claws, w/ a solid silver Spanish (8 reales) coin. Dated 1825. During this period half of Calif. New Mexico & Mexico were under the Spanish domain.
I am unsure when this necklace was made but the typewriter card dates it as vintage. This is a beautiful example of handmade tribal art. This piece would be fabulous for a natural history curiosity home decor or a tribal art collection.
The necklace itself is in great condition but you might want to get a new display case, the faux leather boarder has a lot of rips and distress.
Display case: 16 1/4 inches tall by 12 1/4 inches wide
Bear claws approx average: 2 1/4 inches long some smaller near top
Coin: 1 3/8ths inches flat
