Those of you who follow Sparklewren will know that I (Jenni) am currently in the process of creating a pop-up boutique in a beautiful Victorian arcade in the city of Birmingham, UK. In a bid to furnish and promote this boutique to the highest possible standard, I am creating some limited edition items and a crowdfunding project to boost cashflow.

Amongst these items will be a couple of ready-to-wear sample corsets, beautiful made-to-order cinchers, and special priced gift vouchers.

Certain special items are also available as rewards to customers/patrons through the crowdfunding project and you can learn more about that here:

I have never followed the instructions in this book, so I cannot comment on it in much detail (I purchased it mostly so that I could have a quick read and join in on a few discussions about it). But I have spoken to many others (especially beginners) who have found it to be a brilliant book to start their corsetmaking journey, the inclusion of clear diagrams being the main selling point.

I have a couple of other texts, patterns and such that I purchased through similar curiosity, so I may list them here. In the meantime, here's a description of this book from Amazon:

"This book covers everything from the tools and types of materials necessary, to what you need to know about bones and busks, setting grommets, and styles of lacing. Sparks covers every step along the way in great detail, including how to make a modesty panel, to build single layer, double layer, and fashion fabric corsets while also offering her advice on how to fit and style a corset for the perfect look for any occasion. When building a corset, think of it as a blank canvas. From there you can structure it and add as many embellishments as you please. Use leather for a sexy look, add appliques for a vintage look, or decorate with lots of eyelets for a gothic feel. The possibilities are endless when you know the basics of corset building."

This book is technically "used", but in great condition having only been flicked through once.

I hope this book will be of use to someone instead of sitting idle on my shelf! Consider purchasing a yard of embroidered silk at the same time (see other listings) to kickstart your corsetmaking experiments.

Corsets not included ;-)
