This bowl was fired in a wood kiln to at least cone 11 or 2380 degree. This bowl was placed upside down on the top of another bowl that has the same width as this bowl. Those two bowls were placed rim to rim just like clam shells. This loading method can keep unwelcome objects out of the eating surface. It has very nice wood fire effects on the outside. It has very shiny areas with natural ash glaze from the wood burnt in the kiln as fuel. Some areas remained dry while turing orange, red, and brown. The interior was glazed with nice orange shino. This shino came out splotchy with reddish dots.
Unfortunately something fell onto the side of this bowl. I had to grind that off. It is the best part of the bowl and is noticeable. For this reason, the price of this bowl is reduced.

It is food safe, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe.
