Interesting art/painting instructional book titled "Water Color Painting". It was published in 1898 by Grace Barton Allen who was a contemporary of Paul de Longpre and Catherine Klein. She is well known for her floral yard long pictures. Inside are 250 pages of text and black and white illustrations. At the back of the book are two color palates as shown in my last picture. The instructional sections of the book are as follows:

1. Colors
2. Materials
3. Flowers, Fruit and Still Life
4. Landscapes and Marines
5. Figures and Animals
6. Monochrome
7. Decoration
8. Composition

The hard cardboard cover is covered in cream cloth with silver gilt and green script and decorations. It measures 7 1/4" by 5 1/4". Good condition with no significant issues to report. All interior pages are intact and binding is strong. Outer boards are in good condition but do show some typical edge and spine wear as well as a few marks and age discoloration within the cover. A wonderful Victorian era painting reference book!
