So cheerful! This table topper is all done up from a vintage hand-pieced quilt top. The quilt top was unfinished, about half the size of a bed quilt, but perfect for a table topper. The fabrics are from the early part of the twentieth century, a very small scale calico with tiny white flowers and dots on true red and two shirting prints--black pinpoints and circles on ivory inside the pieced blocks and and dotted line with circles in the setting blocks. The original stitching is tidy and sturdy and there are no stains or tears on the fabrics. I backed the piece with a reproduction shirting fabric in black and ivory very similar to the shirting print on the front, so the piece is nicely reversible. I quilted it on my longarm machine. The pieced blocks are quilted with Xs on the white squares and the setting squares are quilted with a traditional feathered circle. It's bound with a double layer of red reproduction print appropriate to its time. The piece measures 24 inches square and works great as a table topper, accent piece or wall-hanging.
