Glass salt boxes are so rare. This one is made of milk glass and is round in shape. The word, "SALT" is embossed on the front. This particular box is supposed to have a wooden hinged lid, but that is long gone. The holes in the top were to hold the lid and to mount to a wall.

This salt box in is good condition. It has some small stains and surface cracks (none compromise the glass). The glass is strong, heavy and sturdy. It is unmarked, so I do not know who produced it.

Measurements: 5.75" at tallest point, 6" diameter

*Listed for $165 - $175 (with lid in mint condition) on page 241 of "Kitchen Glassware of the Depression Years", Seventh Edition, by Cathy & Gene Florence.*
