Very special! Rare!! Meiji era antique silk pants. The silk is black/dark blue/blue striped, woven silk. The weave is quite rough as you can see in the photo, it appears to have been hand loomed and dyed with natural indigo.

They are completely hand sewn. They are torn open on the seam at the crotch and along one side of the waistline. They are in need of repair or could be incorporated into your project.

These pants are very interesting. I am unsure of their original use. I have described them as monpe however, they are not typical peasant wear as they are made of silk. Must have belonged to someone of higher status.

Leg length: 99cm
Leg width (top): 38cm
Leg width (bottom hem): 18cm unstretched
