This gorgeous and ingenious design is copied from a 1930s vintage evening wrap. Reminiscent of a Japanese Kimono, it is cleverly simple, deliciously glamorous and also very practical.

This is a luxurious devore (or burnout) velvet - made of silk & rayon. Here the Florentine design is in the silver grey velvet nap and the background has been "burnt out" to the semi transparent blue backing. This fabric is quite light weight with a lovely drape.

Like many garments from the early 20th century the clever design of this wrap incorporates beads at strategic points to add a little weight and ensure that the garment hangs well. This makes the wrap very easy to wear - unlike shawls that slip about and need constant adjusting, this wrap is effortless glamour. It has the sophisticated elegance of a shawl without the fussing about.

For this Kimono Wrap I've used a combination of faceted crystal glass beads in a 'smoke' colour, some vintage blue glass beads & a one large, beautiful glass bead with a silver foiled center.
