This is commercial Southdown top that I've dyed in shades of blue and jade. There were four dyes in the pan but they've mingled to give a range of blues and sea greens. This was pan dyed so the colour changes are random and short. Southdown is (as you'd predict from the name) a down breed, it's a shortish staple and makes a very bouncy springy wool. I'd be happy to have a sweater from it but if you are sensitive it might be too woolly for you. I dyed three lengths, all were the same weight and colour but I'm down to the last one now.

There is some hay in the fibre, not a lot and it's long and easily picked out.

This is not superwash but I understand that down breeds are somewhat resistant to felting so I wouldn't recommend it for that purpose.

113g (4oz) Southdown top, Poseidon, blue, jade, teal
