A little bit of HIstory
Carcassonne Castle is built on the MArblehead Neck ( Marblehead MA) by Lydia Pinkham Gove, the granddaughter of Lydia Pickham, at a cost of $500,000. She named the structure, "Sky High."
The castle was suppose to be a replica of the famous Caracassone Castle in France.
The construction of this castle , located on the rocky coast of Atlantic Ocean was done around year 1935
It was the height of Depression time and so many people were employed there that Ms. Pinkham got a letter from President Roosevelt thanking her for providing employment for many people.
This information comes from Great-grandson of Mrs Pinkham, who was my friend in 1980s ( when I lived in MArblehead).
