On January 27, 1967 a launch pad test of what was to be the first manned Apollo mission resulted in a cabin fire that killed all three astronauts on board. They were Roger Chaffee, Ed White and Gus Grissom. The accident brought the Apollo program, and the joy and excitement of America's space race, to a screeching hault. These magazines include stories of the program, information about the lves of the three astronauts, their funeral and the new Apollo team commamded by Wally Schirra.
Other more light hearted stories include the emergence of a new fashion model referred to as "Twiggy", the artist Ad Reinhardt, California's first lady, Nancy Reagan, and a major snowstorm in Chicago. Also photos and stories involving the Vietnam war.
These magazines are all in very good condition with only minor wear. The mag with Wally Schirra has some moisture wrinkling on mnay pages and the back cover is folded and wrinkled and has a one inch tear. . There are loads of pictures inside and lots of color ads. I could find no torn pages.
If I overestimate shipping by $1 or more I always refund the difference thru Paypal. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii may require additional postage.
