'Hoot Owl' by Robbie Probert, Carleton Place Canada. Original piece of art from the 1960s (possibly early '70s). Hand carved owl out of white cedar, sitting on a branch & attached to an autumn orange burlap-like fabric. The fabric covers a thick piece of round cardboard with the name of the artist and the following quote:

"In parts of Canada the early Canadian settlers were given grants of land that had growths of white cedar. From this cedar they built their log houses, barns and fences - many of which are still in use today. The wood for this wall carving has been cut from the same white cedar."

This piece of Canadiana is in very good vintage condition! It is a wonderfully eclectic piece, and a sure bet to please any owl lover - or a collector of original hand carved wood art (specially with Canadian history attached to it)!
