This antique Disston hand saw is a real treasure. We found it among some old tools from my father-in-law, who was a carpenter and tool collector. It has definitely been used, as you can see from the photos, there is one screw missing, the carved applewood handle has paint spatters and is cracked. You can see the split in the handle in the photos. The blade itseIf has definitely been used as you can see from the photos, but is in very good condition. The blade has 7 teeth per inch.
The length of the piece from the top of the handle to the tip of the blade, measures 29.5". The handle is about 5' wide.

Judging from the 13/16" Medallion, and my limited research results,I think this saw is vintage 1930's.
The medallion reads: Disston U.S.A. with their logo (post 1895) in the center.

Disston made hand saws and squares beginning in 1840, even forging their own steel for the blades. Disston was sold to H.K. Porter in 1955 and Disston hand saws were no longer made. The Disston name still exists as a division of a Swedish tool Co.

Perfect gift for the tool aficionado or rustic decoration!!!
