an antique, typical German Bauhaus jewelry box out of brown Bakelite from the 1920s. Bakelite is positive tested. It has 3 trays and a cover, all are connected with aluminium bars. It opens and closes with ease. The two bars at the back make the box stand when it is opened.

I love the strict functionality of the Bauhaus design. The box originates from the household of my grandparents where it was displayed in the glass cabinet in the living room, with some of my grandmother’s jewelry in it (which my sister loved to adorn with). The box is stamped on one of the back bars D.R.G.M (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster, means German Reich Utility Model which was valid from 1891 - 1952 )

size: 8 cm x 6,5 cm x 5,2 cm / 3 1/8“ x 2 9/16“ x 2 1/16“

condition: the box is in very good vintage condition. No chips, no cracks. It has one short scratch on the cover, visible in the first picture. With some patience, a small amount of simichrome or any other liquid metal polishing paste , and a soft cloth it can be removed. The cloth will be getting yellow, a sign that it is genuine bakelite. One of the aliminium bars at the back has a slight discoloration

For sale is only the jewelry box, not the decoration
