LONG sterling silver and lovely blue-green moss agate earrings, anyone?

Moss aquamarine may be my new favorite stone. The close-up photos (macro of the stones) reveal perfectly clear aqua to pale green gems with tiny, perfect black to brown dendritic inclusions. They bring to mind a crystal clear pool in a fast-moving mountain stream in the Sierra Nevada Mountains where I grew up. So crisp and cool, like ice, even. Refreshing to dip a toe in on a hot day, but WAY too cold in which to swim! I hiked endless hours on my nearby Madden Creek, and these earrings are a tribute to the beauty I was privileged to observe so much of my young life. I must have planned on it literally hundreds of times, but I never did make it to the lake at the top. Maybe I'll take my kids there this summer...they would love it!

Each earring has four AAA Moss aquamarine faceted rondelles and one AAA faceted onion briolette, all wired on with thin, elegant sterling wire. The stones move and sparkle with a wonderful blue flash when you wear them. I oxidized these deeply, then I removed lots of the patina, leaving them bright and shiny. The photos do not come close to showing the sparkle and glow of the stones.

These LONG earrings measure almost 3" long from the top of the sterling hand-forged earwires, and they are roughly 3/4" wide on their sterling base. They are not heavy, but have a substantial feel because of the thickness of the wire used. Beautiful and sure to be an instant favorite.

Aquamarine is the natural birthstone for February. It is a variety of beryl and ranges in color from nearly clear to deep sea blue-green. Magically, aquamarine is said to promote safe travel, especially by sea, and protect from harm. In healing lore, it balances the throat chakra, boosting the immune system and balancing the thymus. It is said to clear stagnant emotions, enable creative expression and helps imagination flow in a practical way. Aquamarine is an optimistic stone and one of my personal favorites!

Most of my photos are taken in natural light (weather permitting), either sunshine (if available), or an Ott Light. I adjust only the brightness when I edit pictured items. Sometimes the flash makes the silver look really bright, even if oxidized, but it better shows the quality and colors of some stones. All the metal in my jewelry is oxidized or bright sterling silver, and every bead (unless noted) is 100% sterling. All items have been tumbled for hardness and durability. The earwire ends are sanded for comfort and to prevent irritation. Most items can also be oxidized (antiqued) for no extra charge. Fine silver earwires can be substituted on most earrings if you have a nickel allergy (the allergen in sterling). No problem! Just convo me at checkout. All of my items are stamped .925 and some are even signed! If you like this unique item, please visit my Etsy shop for more fabulous handmade jewelry!
