This vintage Airguide desktop thermometer and hygrometer was made by Fee and Stemwedel, Chicago, probably in the 1930s or 1940s. The instrument is in a dark brown plastic case with a round brass frame around a cream colored dial. A collapsible brass stand on the back keeps it upright. The two gauges measure temperature (Fahrenheit) and relative humidity, with the scale labeled from dry to moist.

Fee and Stemwedel was founded in 1930 and started out making weather instruments for home and office; the firm moved into nautical and military equipment in WWII. In 1956, Fee sold his half of the company to Stemwedel, who changed the name to Airguide. Based on the style of the dial, I think this is a pre-WWII instrument.

The thermometer-barometer is in very good condition and seems to be working well. It could use a cleaning on the inside of the glass.

Size: 4 inches square (10.2 x 10.2 cm)
