Ruins of a Norman Castle is an engraving done by John Evans from a photograph. Evans born in Brooklyn exhibited at the Chicago Exposition in 1893 and the Paris Exposition in 1900. He received bronze medals at the Buffalo Exposition in 1901 and the St Louis Exposition in 1904 as well as a silver medal at the Panama Pacific International Exposition in 1915. As a distinguished wood engraver he did both reproduction and original work. He was a member of the Society of American Wood Engravers.
