15 gummed wallet-type correspondence envelopes of MacNiven and Cameron's Bowersburn range. Cream with blue interior. 1950s/60s. Vintage condition.

These wonderful Bowersburn envelopes have never been used. The flap is still attached to the envelope. Colour is cream with a light blue hue. Yellowing at places.

Interior of envelope is blue with decorative border at the inside of the flap and "Bowersburn envelope" written in italic script within a cloud-like frame.

{history}
MacNiven started as a paper maker and stationery wholesaler in Edinburgh, Scotland, in the 18th century before merging with Cameron and going into steel pen nib manufacturing. MacNiven and Cameron became renowned stationers and pen manufacturers and flourished throughout the 19th and early 20th century. In 1947 they are listed as manufacturers of Bowersburn Stationery among other paper and pen ranges. The factory closed in 1964.

A piece of stationery history and a perfect gift for correspondence fiends.
