This group includes the following flags. The flag labeled Roumania was the national flag, and was abandoned after WWII. The Russian Royal Standard flag, or Emperor Standard, was the Tsar's flag ashore, adopted about 1858 and inuse until 1917. The flag of Russia was used by merchant vessels from 1705-1917, then in 1883 became the state flag of Russia. The Salvador flag was the national flag from 1865 to 1912, originally having 9 stars and progressing to 14. The flag of Santo Domingo, now the DominicanRepublic, has been in use since 1844. The flag of Servia, or Serbia, has been in use since 1835. The flag of the South African Republic, or what was then known as Transvaal, was called "Vierkleur", or 4 colors, and was in use mostly from 1857-1902. The flag of Spain was the Spanish civil ensign from 1785 to shortly before 1931.
