This piece of fabric has been unpicked from a vintage worn japanese kimono from
the late Showa era ( 1947-1989).

It has got a few small stains but it is mostly good, and the fabric is a beautiful example of the fabric design and decoration from that era.

There are two main motifs on this panel - one is an arrangement of maple leaves and the other is gerbera (I think). There is also a tiny cherry blossom motif in the side centre of the panel. The flower motifs are screen printed and hand painted in hairline gold paint in places.

This is on a superb coloured background of green-blue tinged grey - in a self woven swirling pattern.

It is a super fine floppy silk with a strong, lightly textured dry weave.

100% pure silk.

Condition: Vintage, unpicked from a used kimono - with some smudged brownish small marks in a couple of places - refer the last photo.

It has fold marks from where it was stitched in seam that are evident along the sides about 4 to 5 cm from the edge. These fold marks are not discolored and may or may not iron out completely (recommend trying with a steam iron on wool setting).

Length: Just 1m or 39 inches approximately

Width: 36.5cm or 14 inches

Payment by bank deposit in Australian dollars is accepted as well as paypal.

Returns Policy:
Unless the circumstances are exceptional, we do not generally refund for fabric – please feel free to ask questions or for more photos before purchasing.

Postage Guide:
We combine postage whenever possible and charge postage plus packaging at cost. Please ask for combined total before buying if you are unsure.

As a guide, 3 metres of japanese kimono silk to USA is $8.35 postage & packaging.

A purchase of about 10m of one or a variety of fabrics usually ends up costing about 2/3 of the per-metre postage price quoted - except if you are in the USA, there is now a $9 surcharge on parcels over 453g! due to increased security checking costs - for USA customers it means there is no longer much of a postage refund for quantities larger than about 5m.
