Teto, The Clown was made in the 1950s by the famed Hazelle's "Popular Marionettes" company, Kansas City, Missouri. A true marionette utilizing the wood "patented airplane control" mechanism. The label showing the maker and patent are still attached and legible. The original strings are attached, knotless, and still function properly in conjunction with the airplane control and Teto. A wonderful collector's piece, Teto is approximately 15" tall. His face, hands, and shoes are made of a hard white molded plastic showing light surface wear. HIs hat is painted, as are other details such as his expressive eyes, clown makeup and grin. His collar and red and white polka dot clown jump suit are made of cotton fabric. The cloth and ruffled collar are vintage clean, no stains, rips or tears. The photos show all as is vintage conditions, this piece has been in our collection since the mid-1980s.
