Smaller hand-marbled sheet of paper. The colors are a vibrant mixture of blue and lime green, with a dash of vivid purple. This sheet started with a traditional pattern that somehow turned into a wild free-form Rorschach test. I call this sheet "Green Angel", but I'm not sure why. My subconscious must be a weird place. The paper is a light blue card stock, a little heavy for traditional bookbinding uses, but perfect for paper arts or crafts which need a bit of strength or stiffness.

This piece is a wild clash of form and color that is endless intriguing. Perfect for framing and hanging in your favorite shrink's office.

The paper is 8.5" x 11". The paper is probably too heavy to be used as pasted down endpapers, but could be used as free-standing cover stock or in many craft projects. I have used this weight to cover Davey board and, while not as flexible as lighter papers, it does work.

Marbling on paper is an ancient art form that was made popular in the 18th century for endpapers on books. To create the designs, I float acrylic paints on a gel-like liquid made from carrageenan, an extract from Irish Moss seaweed. Carragenan allows the colors to float on the surface where they can be manipulated with marbling rakes and combs into hundreds of patterns, both traditional and modern. The paper is carefully laid on top of the marbled design and the paint transfers to it. Fresh paint must be laid down for each piece of paper, ensuring that each design is unique. Patterns and colors may be similar, but like snowflakes, no two are exactly the same.

The joy of marbling lies in the beauty of the creations and the surprise every time I lift the paper and see the new sheet.
