An unexpected turnout made into a pendant.

I created this pendant from using a technique called enameling. Enameling is the process of finely powdered glass particles and flux fired to melt the glass to create a glossy surface of glass. However, I wanted to use the white enamel in a different piece. After I made the enamel that I need, I looked at what was left. I was amazed to see that the white enamel didn't create an even finished. It made this wavy finished that enables you to see the actual copper. You can also see this dark brown/black substance on the copper and in the white enamel. I believe that is from oxidation from firing the piece.

As a result of this coincidence, I decided that rather than waste it, I would make it into a pendant. I hand cut the enameling out of the copper sheet. After, I constructed a closed-back, sterling silver setting by hand from scratch. On the back, I stamped 925 and xx (my signature.)
