This vintage, folding camera forms part of a range of cameras produced in Germany by Agfa until the late 1950s. Production started in 1936 and it was only during early production that the cameras were marketed and embossed with the name "Jsorette" on the front. The following year, the name was quickly changed to Isolette (marked Jsolette on the front). This makes this model a very desirable camera.

It has a neat, folding design with an extending front. It originally used 120 roll film and produced a dual format of either 6cm x 6cm or 6cm x 4.5cm. This was achievable by moving a mask inside the film chamber.

It is made of metal with a Trolitan top. The body is covered in black leatherette. It has some light markings but is in very good condition overall with no rips or tears.

With the bellows extended, it measures 14.5cm x 10cm x 9cm.

The top houses the winding knob, belows release button, shutter release and strap loops (only seen on the very early models). The winding knob moves freely and smoothly.

When taking a picture, the shutter is first cocked, then a button on top activates a lever which releases it. Care must be taken when freeing the bellows that this is engaged. I've moved through the shutter speeds, from B to 300, and the shutter does fire on every setting.

The viewfinder is mounted in the centre. It has a cool little mask which can be changed to indicate the format being used.

It features automatic, opening bellows and a small, silver coloured button on top releases them. This has a nice, springy action and works correctly. The bellows are in excellent, condition with no rips or tears. The lens board is in good order and the chrome plated braces are in excellent condition with no pitting. It closes tightly away when not in use.

The catch on the side holds the back of the camera on tightly and the hinges are in good order.

The lens looks clean with no deep scratches or chips and the focusing ring does move.

In summary, this camera is over 70 years old. It does have some light signs of use but overall, the condition is very good. It comes complete with its original, brown, leather case.

I am sure you will love adding this camera to your collection.
