Better Homes and Gardens Handyman's Book - 1951/1974

From Dad:

"Webster's Dictionary defines "handymand" as a fellow who does odd jobs. "Handy" is defined as being clever with one's hands. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a truly clever person use his skills to opt out of some "honey-do" jobs? Like maybe take one job and stretch it out to take a long time? Now that's some real skill.

Speaking of the book, that could be my father and me on the cover - except for the fact that there is no chalkboard with "I will pay attention" written 500 times on one side and "I will not swear!" 500 times on the other.

But I digress, back to the book. It is a loose leaf type. There are 400 pages, including lots of pictures. The book is in very good condition. It was copyrighted back in 1951. Some promising things got their start around then! It does look like the boy has glued his hhands to the box they are building - a true father-son bonding experience. Sorry about that pun.

So, if you long for the days when a router was a device to put egdes on a piece of wood, go ahead, buy this book and do something handy.

I can hardly wait for the chapter: "My Favorite Vise!"

Additional info from me:

The original copyright date is 1951. This book is the fifth printing, dated 1974. All of the pages are in good condition and in tact, with the exception of the table of contents page, which the holes have ripped through, leaving the page rather loose in it's place. But otherwise it's in fine condition.

There is some slight wear on the binding (you can see in the first two pictures), and a small smudge on the front cover.

This retro book is a unique and fun collector's item for the avid handyman!
