For generations women have relied on the healing power of herbs to aid them in their Childbearing Years. This postpartum Herbal bath uses age-old wisdom of wound-healing, antibacterial and styptic herbal blends to prevent infection, relieve pain and bruising, reduce swelling and promote the overall healing of your perineum (it's good for episiotomy, tears, hemorrhoids and your baby's cord stump, too!).

This listing is for 1 LARGE disposable postpartum bath bag (makes 1 gallon of a strong infusion) with complete usage instructions.

If there is little tearing and damage to the tissues of the perineum 1 bath bag should be enough. If there is more damage and healing assistance needed, 2-3 bath bags may be needed.

- Bring water to a boil in a large stock pot (you'll want at least a gallon of water)
- Turn off the water and remove from heat - add 1 postpartum herbal bath bag, cover and let steep for at least an hour (the longer, the stronger).
- After brewing, remove the Herbal Bath Bag (you can actually place it in the freezer and use on your bottom after delivery as well - make sure that it is not frozen solid - if it is, run warm water over it to break it up a bit).
- Use immediately or store it for future use.

- If you are using a Peri-Bottle, take out some of the "Tea" and put it directly into your peri bottle. Lasts for 24 hours at room temperature.

- For a Perineum Compress, take the herbal bath bag out after steeping and place in the freezer. You don't want it completely frozen, so if it is run some warm water over it to break up the herbs into more of a "slushy" mixture. Place directly onto the perineum after the delivery to reduce swelling and speed recovery. Believe me - this feels GOOD. :)

This mixture can stand out at room temperature for 24 hours and then can be kept in the fridge for 2-3 days. Freeze some for later if desired.

For home births, make this mixture early in labor. For hospital births, either do this process right when you get home or have someone follow the brewing instructions while you are still in the hospital so that it is ready for use when you get back.

You "can" use this bath in the hospital if you would like, as well (if there is a bath tub you can utilize in your recovery room). Have someone bring you the brewed concoction and add it to your bath water.

**If you are going to take a bath with baby (Yup, it is also good for them!), mama should get in the tub alone while it is still nice and hot and once it cools down a bit have a helper come in and hand the baby to mom. Support the baby's head with both hands and allow their body to float between your legs. Baby may startle a bit at first, but should relax and open up as her body is submersed in the warm water. Enjoy this experience & make sure someone is near to help you! <3

OPTIONAL: Add a fresh large clove of garlic when brewing as an added antibacterial. Stimulates, builds and supports the immune system. Garlic is also helpful in increasing clotting time in the blood.

Contains:

Calendula - Aids in healing the perineum and prevents infections.

Yarrow - Yarrow is an antiseptic, antispasmodic and astringent. It soothes cramps, skin irritations, and hemorrhages. Also regulates the menses and purifies the blood.

Lavendar - A very calming and soothing herb - both physically and emotionally! Lavendar is quite effective in alleviating depression while simultaneously beneficial for all kinds of skin ailments, from sunburn to vaginal discharge and anal fissures. Soothes headaches and nerves as well. A wonderful herb to aid in the transition after birth.

Witch Hazel - Astringent and Anti-inflammatory, this is a wonderful healing herb that will soothe the skin and promote healing of any tears as well as treat hemorrhoids. It can also constrict blood vessels, slowing bleeding.

Chamomile - Anti-septic and Anti-inflammatory, soothing to delicate tissues.

Uva Ursi – Promotes healing of woman’s reproductive organs and urinary tract by killing bacteria in the bladder and disinfecting the urinary tract. Although it is astringent and antibacterial, it generally soothes, tones and strengthens the entire urinary system.

Shepherd’s Purse -Helps prevent and control excessive bleeding by acting as a blood coagulant and vasoconstrictor. High in oxytocin, it helps the uterus contract to clamp off blood vessels.

Comfrey – Relieves and protects swollen tissue, tears (by acting as a cell proliferant). Comfrey is deep healing for perineal muscles, soothes tissue, and relaxes nerves.

Sage - Astringent, antiseptic, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory. Great for skin infections and vaginal discharge. Promotes healing of wounds and is a uterine stimulator. Sage is also spiritually cleansing and protective.

Sea salt - An antibiotic and an antifungal. Very healing (no worries, this wont "hurt" your tears or cuts).
