This Wonderful vintage art glass vase was designed by Pentti Sarpaneva of Finland. The vase has a decorative metal collar round the top rim.

Signed on base:
"Pentti Sarpaneva" Oy Kumela" c.1960s-70s

Measures aprox 5 1/2" high,
is 3 3/4" sq. at the base & 3" square at the top
Condition shows one knick to rim aprox. 1/2" in size see photos Other maker flaws normal..

This fabulous design has a different geometric pattern on each side and were made in a range of colors.

Kumela Glass Factory was started in 1937, was sold to Humppila in 1976 and went bankrupt in 1985

Penetti Sarpaneva (1925-1978) was the brother of Timo and father of Stepan, the watchmaker. Pentti was a jeweller as well as a glass designer. Many of his glass pieces include decorative metalwork.
