Natural history displays are among my favorites. While visiting a local flea market, I came across a collection of butterflies that were mounted in the 1980s. Originally displayed on synthetic satin with dried flowers and typed paper labels identifying species in the crudest way, I felt compelled to give these lovely and beautiful creatures a more dignified presentation. Inspired by the displays in the Osteology room at the La Rochelle Natural History Museum in France, this pair of butterflies is mounted on azure blue linen. This field study is displayed under plexiglass museum-style and looks equally at home in a traditional or modern interior. This shadowbox measures 3 1/2" x 5" and displays the species Graphium sarpedon and Graphium doson. This is ready to hang.
