I am going to be listing several necklaces that I obtained from a lady whose aunt traveled to India and surrounding countries in the 1950's and 1960's.She knew very little about the jewelry, only that her aunt had acquired the pieces in her travels to that area of the world in that time frame.I am unfamiliar with this type of jewelry myself so will do the best I can in listing/describing it.Please ask questions if you need more information about something. This necklace appears to be made of some form of silver metal although I doubt that it is sterling, could be some sort of a low grade silver or silver alloy. It is unmarked. The large stones are real stones, probably agates. The red garnet beads are glass from what I can tell.I think that I saw bubbles(like you would see in hand fashioned glass) in them when using a loupe but they are dark in color and my eyesight up close is not the best.At any rate, they are a beautiful shade of garnet red. There are no missing or broken stones/beads in this piece. The silver metal does have lots of patina and the entire piece could use cleaning.I am going to leave that up to the buyer as the red beads are attached with some sort of glue/adhesive and I did not want to chance having them come loose by submerging this necklace in water. The large stones are secure in settings. This necklace measures 20" end to end.Measuring from the clasp down one side of the necklace to the tip of the jangles on the bottom is 12" on each side. The largest piece at the bottom is 1 3/4" across and the rest of the pieces are 1 1/4" across. It is a substantial piece and is sure to be notices. If I had a place to wear it, I would keep it myself as I just love the colors and design.
