This Weeping Gold leaf shaped dish is a popular design and in excellent condition with no cracks and very subtle signs of use. It measures 6 1/4" at widest point of leaf, front to back and 4" long tip of stem to tip of leaf. I did a bit of research when I obtained a Planter, the first piece I found,( also being sold here), and learned quite a bit about this style, I thought it would be beneficial to include it here for someone else who may be searching for information. Weeping gold pieces marked with their gold content and the manufacturer's name will be higher in value with these pieces being sought after as collectibles. Random dripping and spattered gold glazes are the mark of a weeping gold piece. Authentic weeping gold glazes contain real gold. The gold content will be marked on the bottom with indicators such as "22 karat," "22K," "24K," "24 karat gold" or "Warranted 22-K." Precious metal glazes are suspended in liquid before application and come in different grades, which the karat number indicates. The style of lettering is a good indicator as to the date of the piece ranging from 1940 thru 1960's.

The following was sent to me by a woman who has also researched these pieces;
"If a piece of gold plated pottery is stamped ''Weeping Gold,'' it is not McCoy. McCoy''s line was called ''Sunburst Gold,'' and was not stamped with a line name of any sort. The stamp you will find most often (besides the obvious McCoy mark), however, is ''24K gold'' or ''Gold 24K.'' Most all gold overlay McCoy pieces bore that stamp; serious washing will remove those stamps, but not without damaging the rest of the finish. The actual ''McCoy'' mark (or Mc Coy as some people like to call it) is the best clue (wink, wink). ;)

Sunburst Gold is a hit and miss combination of shiny and dull gold. It resembles the way oil floats on water. Bubbling is present; random patterns are present; it's thicker in some places than in others. Very pretty. Weeping gold is thinner, runny-looking, with teardrop formations (thus the name ''weeping''). If someone is selling gold-plated pottery and they label it ''Weeping Gold'' ask what is stamped on the bottom of the piece before committing to buy it."
