How can you go wrong with the tunes of Irving Berlin. You can't. - And when the songs are arranged and performed by Frank DeVol and his orchestra, it's a double delight. Lots of old favorites here ... and some interesting liner notes by Stanley Green/ DeVol is famous for many musical accomplishments - he did studio arrangements for many of the top singers of the day, including Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Tony Bennett, Dinah Shore, Doris Day and Vic Damone. Nat King Cole's giant hit, "Nature Boy" was famously arranged by DeVol. DeVol also wrote the scores for many Hollywood hit movies, among them, "The Happening", "Pillow Talk", Hush ... Hush, Sweet Charlotte", "Cat Ballou", and "Guess Who's COming To Dinner". Other movies he worked on were "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?", "The Flight of the Phoenix", and "The Dirty Dozen".

You may recognize some of the television theme music that DeVol wrote: "Family Affair", "Gidget", "The Brady Bunch", and "My Three Sons". There were many other shows on which DeVol provided music.

This is a great album, very listenable, that can help put you into that late fifties mood. Whether you are trying to channel the fiftes or relaxing in the 21st Century - this is all Irving Berlin ... and Frank DeVol.
