This bowl was made in Sausalito, California by Heath Ceramics, the ceramics studio of designer Edith Heath. The glaze is a speckled brown rim with a deep red and green stripe below the rim. The base glaze is a creamy, glossy off-white.

According to a very helpful fellow at Heath Ceramics, "this was from a period when Edith Heath was working with metallic glazes that were put on the ware and then put through as second firing. Most of this work was done in the 80's. The metallic work was never part of a widely sold line but rather for custom projects or special orders, most likely for restaurants and hotels. This work was done for a relatively short period of time. It was never given a specific name. Most people refer to as Heath Ceramics Metallic Glaze."

A wonderful little cereal bowls or small serving bowl. 4.5" dia, 8oz. Called "dessert bowls."

These shapes are still in production but not in this glaze combination. These are part of Heath's Rim line, designed in the 1960s. Fantastic vintage condition.
