How can you resist those green eyes? I am finding in my research that these adorable animals were from a children's book from the 1940's called "Deegie and The Fairy Princess" by Ruth W. Rempel. The animals in the story were all made into rubber squeeky toys and in the 1950's, the Diamond Pottery Company bought the rights to make them into ceramic figurines. My mother had a collection of them (and even decorated the livingroom of the first house my parents shared with them!) I am happy to put them all up for adoption here for they can have happy new homes! This dear little kitty cat is 4 1/2 inches high by 4 1/4 inches long. He no longer bears his original red and silver tag. For most of their lives, they were safely packed away, so his glaze is still shiny however, he does show some signs of crazing. As is typical of these animals, he does have a couple of tiny bubbles in the glaze that were not popped before firing. He does have a slight coloring, imperfection on the side of his head (as you can see in image three), but the glaze in this area is fine. Otherwise he is in beautiful condition, a perfect addition to your collection of Rempel animals or as part of your retro decorating scheme.
