The luxury of silk on the beach is also gorgeous and absolutely decadent for those special occasions like destination beach weddings! Be you bride or bridesmaid or a lucky guest, stand out a little in the sand and sun!
Resembling the wavy patterns of a drop of a little oil spill in a puddle after the rain, this piece is entitled "Monochrome Oil Spill".
PICTURED HERE: Standard 78 x 45 inch Jacquard Silk.
CHOOSE YOUR SIZE:
Standard - 78 x 45 inches (2m x 1.14m)
XL - 98 x 45 inches (2.5m x 1.14m)
CHOOSE YOUR FABRIC:
Cotton-Silk - A cotton and silk blend. More durable than pure silk and maintains the smooth texture and bright shine.
Jacquard Silk - Sports an underlying weave giving the piece delicious depth and texture.
Satin Silk - Classic smooth and shiny silk!
Chiffon Silk - Elegantly light and sheer - the most delicate and fragile of all the silks.
Peace Silk - A hand woven, no-harm silk suitable for vegans. Has a soft, muted glow and shine.
Traditionally waxed on textured Jacquard silk with a bronze Sarawakian Tjanting before being hand painted in subdued blacks and greys.
After drying, all my batiks are set with textile fixer, then double boiled and ironed to ensure color steadfastness and long-term durability.
To give your Silk Batik a long and happy life, please look after it carefully with these tips and hints and a bit of common sense:
- Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
- Use cold water rather than warm or hot.
- Silk is a natural fibre like hair, as such you may find that a little shampoo will be gentler and give your batik a lustrous, shiny glow as opposed to using harsh detergents.
Perfect for a hot summer`s day around the neck or bust, or an elegant evening out as an eye catching streamlined skirt. Meant to double as a nice generous wrap or shawl for evening wear.
A Word on Color: We have tried our best to portray the colors of our items. Having said that, please do remember:
- monitor settings DO vary so do keep that in mind as you browse.
- We hand mix all colors which means while we can replicate approximate color, we can never replicate exact color except by fluke.
- Colors are temperamental thingies. Shades change with the weather, time of day, and temperature of the room. Some colors we create are seemingly never seen again! This is the beauty of handmade - having something no one else can ever have.
A Word on Material and Price: Price varies with the type of material used. While this is due to cost, it is also due to the amount of work and skill required to handle certain silks. Chiffon silk for example, is extremely difficult to work with especially in large sizes as it is very delicate and prone to runs during the batik process, and must be hooked to the rack and painted with the utmost care. Peace silk is hand woven and therefore carries a waxy residue as a result of the thread spinning process which enables it to be smoothly loomed. For us, this means a whole 'nother long process of removing this residue so the fabric is susceptible to absorbing color.
Shipping: We do combine shipping! Just send us a message here or on borneobatikraft [!at] gmail.com if you are interested in purchasing multiple pieces and let`s figure out which flat rate cutoff you fit under!
