This Meakin teacup has the Sol backmark so was probably manufactured between 1912 and 1921. It is light and delicate, I can't find any chips or cracks. It has moderate crazing in both the cup and saucer and there are light scratches in the finish and some areas of wear. The cup has a glaze slip on the bottom. Overall it is in lovely condition. One thing to note, there is a flaw in the placement on the decal on the saucer that makes it not symmetrical, please see the close up photo for details. Both pieces are trimmed with gold and the cup has an addition ring of gold on the inside of the rim. The gilding is in good shape, only minor wear.
Cup is 2 1/2" tall and 3 1/2" in diameter
Saucer is 6" in diameter
The backmark says J&G Meakin, England, Sol, Reg. 391413. The cup has an impressed star, a red cross, blue dot and a beige swoop (for lack of better word).
