Antique carved wooden box with a hinged lid that has a stencil of flowers on the top and a mirror inside. From the 1800s. Possibly a men's dresser box or a woman's jewelry box (it was probably much brighter about 100 years ago). Dark brown stain — or paint — with faded reds and oranges in the stencil. Lovely carving. Primitive hinges. The bottom has a kind of wool felt on it, and the inside base looks almost like a cork.

8" x 8" x 3"

Very good condition. Stencil is faded, the hinges are a bit loose but well attached, and there are a few dings in the finish. A charming, quaint old box with a dozen purposes.

Antique wood box. Stencil lid, mirror inside. 1800s. Primitive rustic.
