Built one at a time, entirely by by eye and and hand, these kayaks are shaped to suit the paddler's body, skill-level, home waters, and paddling interests.

I build to satisfy the avid, expert ocean-going paddler; the flat water birder and photographer looking for a stable platform; the wilderness trip maker; and everyone in between. In shop right now are kayak commissions for: a raised-on-the-water, wilderness savvy, 5'-1" tall college girl in Portland; a 35 year old San Fransisco Bay Area beginner paddler; and a 65th-birthday-present for a client's mom who will be paddling on her Long Island home waters. What will these three kayaks have in common? They will make their owners smile every time they lay eyes on them!

These boats are ultra-light, at 28-32 pounds (even lighter by request), yet stand up to claw hammer blows, and require no maintenance. They are incredibly graceful, and, perhaps, not for the shy-- as inquiries and admiration will be a part of every paddle you take.

Each kayak is built from highest quality materials. I choose our incredible domestic woods, and keep a weather eye open for excellent local lumber via working with arborists, locating salvage/reclaimed lumber, and milling stock from invasive exotics that are downed at environmental restoration sites.

The form that I build in is inspired by types that evolved in the Bering Sea over thousands of years in some of the harshest and most demanding conditions imaginable. They are truly excellent craft!

Please feel free to email questions-- I have a bulk of information for the inquisitive!
