This low vase by Arabia Finland is an excellent example of the Rice pattern developed by Friedl Holzer Kjellberg. The pattern, designed after Chinese ceramics, is made by hand-cutting designs in clay and putting the item through a double-firing. The end result is a lovely piece decorated with translucent rice-grain designs.

The bottom of this piece is marked "Arabia","F H K", and "Finland." The mark was not visible in photographs, as it is incised or impressed into the piece itself, then glazed over. The vase is 9 inches across at its longest point, and 4.5 inches wide at its widest point. It is 4.25 inches tall. It is in fine condition with no chips or cracks.

These pieces were in production from the 1940's through the 1990s. I believe, based upon the mark and the design, that this piece dates from the earlier end of the range.

The vase will be wrapped with care and shipped to you via USPS. Interested international buyers, please convo me for a shipping quote. Thanks so much!
