A set of 4 vintage butter pat dishes has a sweet bouquet of pink roses scalloped on the border of the plate and one in the center. The bottom of the plates reflect a Victorian Crown with the markings "Johnson Bros - England".

Meaures approximately 2 1/2" wide. One of the plates has a small spot (as seen on third picture) but can barely be seen. The plates are in overall vintage good condition.

The butter pat is also commonly known as a butter chip or individual butter. These small dishes were originally designed to hold individual servings of butter (a pat). No Victorian table was complete without individual butters. When setting the “proper” table – the butter pat is placed left of the center of the service (dinner) plate. Typically butter pats are no more than 3 inches round. These dainty items are sought after by collectors.
