Vintage Children's Book, Robinson Crusoe in Words of One Syllable, Mary Godolphin was published in 1882 as a an early reader for school children. This poor old book has taken a beating and although I could have pulled out the wonderful color illustration plates I decided someone should have the chance to have the whole book. Do understand, however that the book is in pretty shabby shape overall. The binding is shot, some pages have pencil scribbles and it has some minor mustiness overall.

Mary Godolphin was the pen name of writer Lucy Aiken who rewrote several classics, including this one by Defoe and also "Pilgrim's Progress" in one syllable words for use in the classroom. Robinson Crusoe has been one of the most read and beloved of all children's books since it was written in the 1700s.
