This one-of-a-kind candle holder was thrown on the potters wheel and hand carved. The Celtic knotwork was designed directly on the side and carved into the porcelain when it was leather-hard (dry enough to hold its shape but not completely dry). No templates or molds were used, and each knot is unique.

The candle globe was finished with a black glaze which was wiped off the surface of the knotwork. Yellow, blue, red, and green underglazes were then used to highlight the knotwork.
The piece was fired to approximately 2300°F (1,260°C). This creates a delicate yet durable finished piece of pottery. The cut work comes alive with the light of a candle, and casts wonderful patterns on the surface around it.

The candle holder stands 3.25” (8 cm) tall and has a diameter of 4.25” (10.5 cm).
